Rod Dobish has been named the new executive director of facilities management at Duquesne University, effective July 1.

“I am excited about this opportunity,” said Dobish, “I look forward to working with the facilities team to further the advancement of Duquesne University.”

A part of the Division of Management and Business, the Department of Facilities Management maintains campus through sustainability efforts to enhance the educational experience and mission of the University while continuously improving the environmental quality of campus.

Dobish first joined facilities management in 1993 as an assistant to the director. Prior to that, he served 11 years of active duty in the U.S. Army for which he spent time in Asia and Central America. Dobish spent a yearlong tour of duty in Baghdad in 2004 before retiring in 2005 from the military after completing 12 years as a reservist.

During his nearly 20 years at Duquesne, Dobish has served on numerous University committees, including the Computerized Maintenance Management System Team (Maximo), United Way Campaign, the University Staff Awards Committee, and the Labor-Management and University Safety Committees. In addition, he is a contract negotiations team member.

Dobish and his wife Hannah reside in Pittsburgh’s Squirrel Hill neighborhood.
