The inaugural recipient is Amanda Morel, public affairs manager at BNY Mellon, formerly of Newton, PA. Morel now lives in Bethel Park.

The $4,000 award and commemorative plaque is given to an individual who demonstrates a commitment to making a contribution to business and society and displays academic performance with at least a 3.5 GPA. Community service, excellent citizenship and leadership are important considerations for this award.

Business Professor Dr. Dorene Ciletti, a member of the selection committee, stated:

“Her dedication to social responsibility in business, her track record of leadership in community service, and her strong academic performance in the Master of Business Administration program showcased her commitment to making a contribution in business and society.”

Byrne, executive director of The Beard Institute at Duquesne, served for twenty years on the Lennox International Board of Directors. The award has been established by the John F. Donahue School of Business and Lennox international in honor of Byrne’s decades of leadership and contributions to the advancement of the Palumbo-Donahue School of Business.
