A team of five Duquesne University MBA students recently won the Association for Corporate Growth (ACG) Cup after facing teams from West Virginia University, the University of Pittsburgh and Indiana University of Pennsylvania in the final round.
Each team was asked to prepare a valuation and present a private equity buyout solution for privately held firm that was looking to cash out. A complex financial analysis and deal structure was required by the case, along with a well-organized and professionally structured presentation.
The winning team, composed of students in the MBA Sustainability program, included Jeff Gladstone of Penn Hills, Lauren Lambert of Worthington; Mark Kampert of Smithfield, PA; Paul Mau of San Diego; and Mary Frances Stotler of Philadelphia.
Faculty sponsors are Tom Nist, director of graduate business programs and Donahue Chair in Investment Management, and Dr. Phil Baird, associate professor of finance.
