    Communication Ethics Conference Explores Love, Family and Social Responsibility

    Scholars from around the world will convene at Duquesne University to address some of the ethical issues surrounding communication in a world filled with technology.

    “Issues of communication are central to the discipline of communication and to what it means to be a good citizen in today’s society,” said Dr. Erik Garrett, assistant professor in the Department of Communication and Rhetorical Studies, which is sponsoring the conference.

    Communication Ethics as Loving Struggle: Love, Family and Social Responsibility in the Technology Age, will feature three internationally renowned scholars, who will deliver keynote addresses, as well as panel discussions and book displays for participants.

    The speakers and their topics are:

    • Dr. Calvin O. Schrag, the George Ade Distinguished Professor of Philosophy Emeritus at Purdue University, who will discuss the communicative turn in philosophy.
    • Dr. Lynn Turner from Marquette University, who will address family in a technological age.
    • Dr. Øyvind Ihlen of the B.I. Norwegian School of Management, who will share his international expertise in the area of corporate social responsibility.
