Human Rights Film Series Presents ‘Dishonored’

    Feb. 19, 2010

Duquesne University presents a free screening of Dishonored as part of its third annual Human Rights Film Series, Injustice and Indifference.

Directed by Sigrun Norderval and Gard A. Andreassen, Dishonored documents the story of Mukhtar Mai, whose demand for justice received global media coverage and led to legal proceedings resulting in a final ruling by Pakistan’s Supreme Court that led to changes in that nation’s legal system.

Dishonored features interviews with Mai and a variety of human rights and women’s rights activists, lawyers, government officials, politicians and journalists, all of which serve to illustrate the widespread of women throughout that region.

Dr. Khlood Salman and Dr. Alison Colbert, both assistant professors at Duquesne’s School of Nursing, will give remarks prior to the screening.

The Human Rights Film Series is presented by the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures at Duquesne University.

    When: Wednesday, Feb. 24, at 7 p.m.

Where: Room 105, College Hall, Duquesne University, 600 Forbes Ave., Pittsburgh.
