    DU Professor Named Centennial Scholar of Philosophy of Communication

    Dr. Ronald C. Arnett, chairman of the Department of Communication and Rhetorical Studies at Duquesne University, was honored by the Eastern Communication Association as a Centennial Scholar of Philosophy of Communication and as a Centennial Scholar of Communication during its 100th annual convention, Defining Moments: A Century of Communication, in Philadelphia, this spring.

    Additionally, Arnett was appointed to the position of executive director of the Eastern Communication Association, a professional organization of scholars, teachers and students of communication studies.

    Also, Dr. Richard Thames, associate professor in the Department of Communication and Rhetorical Studies at Duquesne, was elected 2011 chair and program planner for the Kenneth Burke Society Interest Group of the Eastern Communication Association.

    He will plan this interest group’s slate of offerings for the 2011 conference in Washington, D.C.

    The Kenneth Burke Society is a non-profit organization dedicated to promote the study and preservation of the works of literary theorist Kenneth Burke. Its members encompass a variety of academic disciplines including English, sociology, economics, philosophy, mass communication, religion and rhetoric.
