Chess Grand Master Darmen Sadvakassov will participate in a Simul, an event during which he will play two chess matches while blindfolded and then another 10 matches simultaneously at Duquesne University.
Sadvakassov, a native of Kazakhstan, is one of only 60 grand master chess players in the United States. He earned the title of international master by age 14 and became a grand master when he was 18.
Pittsburgh Councilman William Peduto, who will be one of the 10 opponents during the simultaneous match, will make the first move against Sadvakassov.
The Simul is hosted by the Duquesne University Chess Club on Wednesday, April 15, at 5 p.m. Academic Walk, Duquesne University, 600 Forbes Ave.
