Senior Drivers Can Learn Tips for Safer, More Comfortable Driving at CarFit

    Apr. 16, 2008

A free program called CarFit could help make driving safer and more comfortable for older drivers. This program provides senior motorists over the age of 65 access to a trained professional, who will lead them through a 12-point checklist with their vehicles, recommend personal vehicle adjustments and adaptations, and offer community specific resources and activities that could make their personal vehicles “fit” better or enhance their safety.

An occupational therapist will be available to provide information to older drivers on how to maintain and strengthen driving health.

This event is organized by the Duquesne University Occupational Therapy Graduate Students and sponsored by AAA, AARP, American Occupational Therapy Association, UPMC and Duquesne University.

    When: Saturday, April 19, from 9 a.m.-1 p.m.

Where: UPMC Passavant Hospital, 9100 Babcock Blvd., McCandless Township

Registration: This program is free, but interested drivers should call 1.800.533.UPMC (8762) to make an appointment.
