    Class of 2011 Arrives on Campus for Move-In/ Orientation

    The class of 2011 will move into Duquesne University residence halls in preparation for the annual Orientation program and the beginning of a new academic year.  This new group of students is the largest of the last four freshman classes.
                           
    The award-winning, student-run, freshman Orientation kicks off after the new students move in (by ZIP code) to the  Duquesne residence halls.

    Students, their parents and families engage in five days of Orientation programs and activities, including the following:

    • Matriculation ceremony
    • Regional receptions for parents, enabling parents to meet other parents from their region
    • Student Graffitti Dance, during which students wear and sign each other’s white t-shirts
    • Legacy Luncheon, for students and their parents and grandparents who are DU alumni
    • Trolley tours of Pittsburgh
    • Student Talent Show
    • New student volunteer opportunity, which includes hands-on, neighborhood clean-up on the South Side

    Duquesne students begin the academic year on Monday, Aug. 27.

    *Media from local television stations may want to get coverage of Move-In from their helicopters. Media who are interested in covering Orientation events can call Public Affairs to arrange parking.
