Brahms on the Bluff Continues with ‘Four Factor’

    Feb. 15, 2007

The second season of Brahms on the Bluff, the historic three-year concert series of the complete chamber music of Johannes Brahms at Duquesne University’s Mary Pappert School of Music, continues with Four Factor. This concert showcases Brahms’ eagerly awaited first two string quartets, which he completed at age 40, as well as two piano works, the epic Four Ballades op.10 and the richly expressive Fantasies op.116.

Brahms on the Bluff features David Allen Wehr, holder of the new Jack W. Geltz Distinguished Piano Chair in the Mary Pappert School of Music, and guest artists. Guests for Four Factor are violist Donald McInnes, Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center; cellist Anne Martindale Williams, Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra principal cellist; and violinists and Duquesne faculty members Rachael Stegeman and Charles Stegeman.

Sunday, Feb. 25, at 3 p.m.  An informative talk at 2:15 p.m. precedes the performance, and a complimentary public reception follows. Suggested donation is $10.
